We finally have real internet at our house! Hooray!
Dealing with time warner has been pretty bad, but I'm excited to have fast internet again. For the past few months we've been using a verizon usb modem over wirelss and it just doesn't cut it. Last month we had something like $40 in overage fees.
Anyway, I decided to not get cable tv since it's $75 and sucks. I'll let you know how replacing tv with the internet works out. I'll probably need to work more on a upnp server so the ps3 can stream more stuff. For $75 I could buy all of my shows on itunes anyway..
Check out the hardware from Popcorn Hour. I've got one of their C-200 units in my living room and love it. It'll stream content in darned near any format you can think of, from darned near any source (NFS, CIFS, external USB drives, you name it).
